If a thousand children die of malnutrition in an under-developed country and there isn’t a media “person” there to document it, did it really happen in the developed consciousness?

nope. as evidenced by our constant wasteful spending. as evidenced by our looking for the cheapest produce, at the expense of exploited farmers. as evidenced by our fleeting contributions to developing countries when disaster strikes then forgetting where the country is located a year later. as evidenced by our constant yearning for tougher immigration laws. without the media reports sadly the developed consciousness is completely oblivious to the existence of anyone outside of its borders.
